About Us:
Reflection Press was founded to support people in using creativity to more deeply know and celebrate themselves. Rooted in the life work of cofounder Maya Christina Gonzalez, Reflection Press is committed to providing experiences and materials to empower people to create their own authentic reflections when external ones do not accurately exist. Reflection, seeing ourselves in the world around us, is a first and important step in knowing that we belong, we are here and we are not alone. In addition, using the lessons of presence and awareness, people learn to sustain the flow of creative energy and better understand their experience and self. Together these practices aim to strengthen a sense of self which helps us to learn, make supportive choices, respect ourselves and those around us, and care about our lives and ultimately our world.
Reflection Press is the vision and intent of spouses, and now business partners, Maya Christina and Matthew Smith-Gonzalez. Founded in September 2009 in San Francisco, California.
Our Mission:
Reflection Press empowers people to fully claim themselves and their inherent creative force. By providing experiences and materials that use creativity, presence, and reflection as tools to find, explore, and know self, we strengthen ourselves as a people. In this strength, we come to know that we all belong here and now and that we all possess the capacity to create a world based on equality in which we are free to express and expand into our truest selves.
What We Offer:
Reflection Press provides workshops, presentations, lectures, and materials that engage the creative force as a tool for self-empowerment. We also work to provide imagery, written and visual, that begins to reflect people who are often under-represented in the current media. Through books, posters, prints, and online resources, we strive to reach and empower as many people as possible. For when we feel reflected in our world, we sense that we belong and that this is our world to love and create and change.
