It's Perfectly Natural!
If we look to popular media, we'd probably assume that there are only two genders and that blue is for boys and pink is for girls. Yet the truth is that multiple gender expression is completely natural, has always existed, and is all around us!

Look to Nature. One only look closely to see that the natural world is much more diverse than we could ever imagine. Nature loves and thrives on diversity.

Look to History. There are largely untold stories of numerous transgender ancestors who have contributed a great deal to the world and their communities. Transgender people are kings and queens, soldiers and artists, ambassadors and doctors. There are times and places where transgender people have special positions in their communties. Their words and understanding carry important meaning for their people.

Look to Other Cultures. Cultures around the world celebrate and honor the vastness of human gender expression. The Bugis of Indonesia have 5 genders and believe that all 5 genders must coexist for there to be universal harmony becuase if one of the genders is separated then the world will become unbalanced.

Perhaps it's time we expand our notion of gender now.

And perhaps the more important question is:
How do we support our children in feeling free to be exactly who they are regardless of the body they were born into?
