Our Press provides resources and curriculum to educators, parents, counselors, or anyone working with children who believe that creativity and reflection are keys to self-empowerment. We all need to see ourselves in our world and we all need to know ourselves. When we have a strong sense of self and feel that we are our own agent, we are freer to learn...to live...to be. A relationship with the creative process is vital to our well being and our children's well being in navigating the dynamics of our world and creating a future that embraces equality for all.

Empower...Explore...Express. Our Claiming Face™ curriculum is unique in that it is both artist-based and kid-tested and deeply rooted in the creative process. It is about developing emotional, mental, and psychological skills, not simply art skills although those will most likely develop. maya's Latest book:
I Know the River Loves Me, now available through Children's Book Press. View the video of the book as it is read to a group of children. This is her second book which she has both written and illustrated, the first being, My Colors, My World, which won the Pura Belpre Illustrator Honor Award for 2008.
